Do we all feel a great deal safer knowing that 65 y.o. Tommy Chong is imprisoned?

The judicial system shames itself with this legal thuggery.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Mary Houghton argued that Chong grew wealthy glamorizing drug use and trivializing law enforcement in his films
When did this become a crime in America? Why is this relevant?
To: wheelgunguru
Drug users should get one chance to stop.
Drug sellers should be shot.

Hilarious! Chong had started a company to sell a product called "Urineluck" supposedly effective as a drug screener. It was alleged that a person could take a drug test right after using Urineluck to assure that they would pass the test even if they were a pothead who just had a smoke. The funny thing was, the product didn't work and those that took the standard drug tests failed in spite of the product maker's claims.

At his sentencing, Chong said he ... had quit smoking pot and wanted to use his celebrity to help people stay off drugs. Riiiiight. Selling bongs is REALLY a great way to help people stay off drugs.
Hope Chong enjoys his 9 months on the taxpayer's dime playing polo and taking those underwater basket-weaving classes at Club Fed.

Chong, 65, Ewwwww...when I was a kid, I was laughing at comedy from a guy who was only two years younger than MY MOTHER? God, how uncool... *grin*

"At his sentencing, Chong said he got carried away with the fictional persona, but had quit smoking pot and wanted to use his celebrity to help people stay off drugs."
Did he really say that? What a sell-out. Tommy, guess what? No matter what you say now you are still going to jail.

I can buy a bong on the street in my town! I guess with one major bong corporation in jail, the bong stocks and bong prices will go up now, no? Free market at work!

This is report is the first I've seen to claim that Tommy Chong is now drug free. In an interview a few years ago he admitted that he still tokes up.
He isn't doing much to keep people off of drugs if he is selling bongs for a career. All that said, I do not understand the raid businesses that sold of drug paraphernalia by mail (with no emphasis on storefronts that sold them). I understand it has something to do with not being able to confirm that a buyer was over 18.
I wonder how much of the little game of calling "bongs" water pipes and tobacco toys seems to have bitten dopers on the ass. Can't sell tobacco products to minors yet minors MAY have purchased them by mail so their sale is criminal (guess the goverment will need to crack down on all the porno producers who are selling their product to minors).

This makes me ashamed to be an American. To think that Martha Stewart is walking around free, after having committed real crimes, and that Tommy Chong is in prison for selling pipes...god help us. Where is the prison time for all the real criminals?
