You needn't worry. Drugs will never be legalized, so you have little to fear of drugged hordes overrunning your home any time soon.

There's just too much money in it, for both sides of the law. The gangs that control the cities, and the law enforcement that lives off them, will never allow legalization even of things as harmless as pot.

The gangs don't want it because it would kick the legs out from under them and they'd have a lot harder time recruiting new members.

The druggies don't want it because then they would become harder to get and more expensive.

The cops don't want it because then they wouldn't be able to seize houses, cars and other nice toys without due process.

So... it works well for everybody. Nothing will change. No worries.

Drugs will never be legalized

You could stop right there! What has ever been legalized, besides alcohol a long time ago? Will absinthe ever be legalized? Carrying a nail clipper into an airplane? Serving a hamburger done rare?

Uh... no, it's not wrong. While I'm not *personally* in the market for such things, I know people that are. The price of pot hasn't changed much over the last twenty years even without adjusting for inflation. Adjusted for inflation and improvements in potentency it has gotten dirt cheap. If it were legal and regulated and *taxed*... the price would go up from where it is now. No question.

AS far as harder to get goes... I can guarantee you that I would have to drive farther to get to a liquor store than I would have to drive were I disposed to buy pot. I'm not... but it is far easier to buy than alcohol... and there's no age requirement on the street.

No, actually I meant that the way it sounds. The pot smokers that I know don't really care that it is illegal, and in fact they wouldn't want it to become a regulated and taxed commodity. It is easy enough for them to get, and cheap enough, so who cares? Buying a bottle of bourbon involves quite a bit more hassle than buying a gram. Why mess with it?

This is report is the first I've seen to claim that Tommy Chong is now drug free. In an interview a few years ago he admitted that he still tokes up.

He isn't doing much to keep people off of drugs if he is selling bongs for a career. All that said, I do not understand the raid businesses that sold of drug paraphernalia by mail (with no emphasis on storefronts that sold them). I understand it has something to do with not being able to confirm that a buyer was over 18.

I wonder how much of the little game of calling "bongs" water pipes and tobacco toys seems to have bitten dopers on the ass. Can't sell tobacco products to minors yet minors MAY have purchased them by mail so their sale is criminal (guess the goverment will need to crack down on all the porno producers who are selling their product to minors).
