Are you confused? Yes. The fact remains that whether a given length of pipe is classified as "paraphernalia" or not" is strictly in the mind of the prosecutor. Whether he chooses to waste a fistful of the taxpayer's money pursuing Home Depot or pursuing Tommy Chong is at his own discretion. If some doper puts up a web page telling people that a given length of pipe from Home Depot can be used as a bong, does that put the store at risk? It can if someone wants to push the case.
The situation gets even muddier when we consider tobacco supplies. How do we know what consumers are choosing to smoke in tobacco pipes from a given store? At what point does a pipe designed to smoke tobacco become illegal "paraphernalia"?
To: BlazingArizona
Tobacco pipes are still illegal for those under 18. Dopers don't want to fight the war against tobacco and here it bites on them on the ass.

your not the first person to call me that! Just ask my husband. but insane would of worked as well. it's just a harsh dose of reality.
btw, the commercials about the drug $$ going to terrorists just pisses me off b/c i know the WOD is trying to tie the two together. c'mon i thought it was the drug lords of South American that were controlling most of our pot.
too bad a damn weed just can't grow wild and be smoked like tobacco (althou i hate cigarettes.. i do like an occasional cigar).
tgif. time to fire up the bong that i bought from Tommy Chong.. oh wait did i say that.. just kidding. that would be illegal. i guess it doesn't matter what i put in those things.. oregano, parsley.. sage.. it's all illegal right?

Have you ever exceeded the speed limit? Have you ever done a "rolling stop" at a stop sign when no one was coming? Are you saying you've never, ever broken any law, no matter how small?

Drug users should get one chance to stop. (Rush agrees with me 98.5 % of the time.)
Rush had his chance at least twice before. Shall we shoot him now ?!

The pot being sold now is simply *nothing* like that brown columbian of the seventies. You're buying the drug warrior propaganda, which is total BS.
I know of three HEAVY pot smokers who were unable to finish 2/3 of a pinner (1/8" diameter) of that "brown columbian of the seventies".
They tell me this "ten times as powerful" crap is just that.

Saddam and Hitler were known for prosecuting people to "send messages". They also liked Rambo wannabes in ninja suits with automatic weapons who kicked in peoples' doors and cursed them while they threw them to the floor.
Pigs think alike.

>Me too. Especially those who think they can simply pick >and choose the laws they wish to obey and flip the bird at >all the others.
Yes, when those laws are ridiculous and serve no purpose, I'll flip the bird at it.
My mother had cancer. Had abdominal cancer and had the choice of the "alternatives" to marijuana, which made her virtually comatose. Or marijuana which made her stoned, but able to spend the last months of her life with her family, and tolerable because of the naseau relief. But I suppose she should have taken the comatose route to please those that care less for humans and more for laws.

>There is no law that says that I must give up my first >child to the government.
Lucky for you. But for argument sake, let's say there was. Would you be so gung ho about obeying the law NO MATTER WHAT?
>So, by obeying the law, I'm "blaming others and meddling >in their lives?" Real clear thinking there.
In this case, yes. You have to take into consideration the actual law itself. You have no idea how to do anything but be a rule follower and never question anything except what someone else says to do. No matter how much you disagree.
>Yes it is. Which is why you and everybody else should obey >the law and not smoke pot.
Now see, you are making assumptions. Because I propose breaking the law, I must smoke pot. This is not true. I posted in another post about my mother and her having used pot to relieve the effects of chemo and cancer with pot. But in your logic, she should have been jailed for breaking a law, and no thought or compassion should have been put in. I suppose you are also for "zero tolerance" and the boy that offered his inhaler to his girlfriend should be expelled for it? There is always room for common sense and nothing is cut and dry in every situation.
>Not true. I would still obey the law but work to change it >if I disagreed with it.
Who says I don't work to change it. I am a BIG advocate for medicinal marijuana. Unfortunately for my mother and others like it, the last 60 years of trying to change the law didn't help them. And it isn't looking likely that it will change in the near future. But since the world is so cut and dried for you, I don't expect you to understand that.

I got the idea that Chong was involved since the literature, his photo and name is used on the packaging by the company and he definitiely was the promoter.
To: wheelgunguru
Oh, please. Haven't they watched his movies?? How else is the guy going to make a living? How bad is it for him to sell the stupid bongs? Isn't there more important crime to pursue in that state besides Tommy Chong and his bongs?
