Tax Benefits???? It's obvious this guy doesn't have a background in accounting. I'm a CPA, and it's common knowledge that most married couples end up paying more in taxes than they would if they were single. Hasn't he heard of the marriage penalty?

Right you are! I am also a financial professional. I know of one married couple who paid about $4,000 more in taxes last year because they were married instead of shacking up - my wife & I.
Married seniors also get shafted. That's one reason why many retired widows and widowers just live in sin instead of marriage. It's too much of a financial penalty.
