De-legalization of property ownership will be the next step. Right you are! The only time equality exists is when everyone has nothing.
To: Hodar
I've never understood this gay-marriage thing. Gays can get married anywhere in the U.S. they want to. Even two gays can marry. The only requirement is that it be to a member of the opposite sex. They have the same rights as any heterosexual has.

If you think about it, questioning the consitutional basis (equality and all) for the preferential treatment of marraige itself is an interesting tactic on their part. In one sense, perhaps designed to broaden support for their "cause" out to all singles. In another sense this sort of "guilt" theme tends to resonate well with libs.
It will be interesting to see if it is picked up.
This sort of question cuts both ways politically. It would be a great question to put to dem candidates.

Right you are! I am also a financial professional. I know of one married couple who paid about $4,000 more in taxes last year because they were married instead of shacking up - my wife & I.
Married seniors also get shafted. That's one reason why many retired widows and widowers just live in sin instead of marriage. It's too much of a financial penalty.

"A group of legal scholars and gay advocacy groups are calling for marriage to be de-legalized in order to make the distribution of benefits more fair for people who arent married, including gay couples."
Right! Distribution of benifits. Oh Yeah; Thats the ticket!!!
To: Hodar
"You simply can't have it all your way. Either we openly and freely discriminate against homosexuals in work, school, property, religon, housing, health and education; or we allow them equal access to all benefits the rest of us enjoy."
Well I for one suggest that we uphold our moral values in this country and tell the lousy 6% of the pervert population that is pushing this agenda that if they wish to view it as discrimination, then so be it!
As to "equal access" they have equal access! The very same access that all non- homosexual single individuals have under the law. Just because they choose to make their disgusting sexuality an issue does not grant them special priviledges, nor should it!
To: Hodar
Why can't they just sign the necessary legal documents and say we have a contract because we have a relationship? The same thing applies to a nonmarried but cohabitating male and female. It could also apply to confirmed heterosexual bachelors that live together to reduce cost.
I have a relationship with my wife (marriage) and I have a relationship with my home builder (contract).

From the NIV ...
I Timothy Chapter 4
Instructions to Timothy
1) The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons.
2) Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.
3) They forbid people to marry and order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth.
4) For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving,
5) because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer.
