From HR 25:

SEC. 101. INCOME TAXES REPEALED.

Subtitle A of title 26 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (relating to income taxes and self-employment taxes) is repealed.

SEC. 102. PAYROLL TAXES REPEALED.

(a) IN GENERAL- Subtitle C of title 26 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (relating to payroll taxes and withholding of income taxes) is repealed.

(b) FUNDING OF SOCIAL SECURITY- For funding of the Social Security Trust Funds from general revenue, see section 201 of the Social Security Act (42 U.S.C. 401).

SEC. 103. ESTATE AND GIFT TAXES REPEALED.

Subtitle B of title 26 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 (relating to estate and gift taxes) is repealed.

Repealing specific acts of the IRS code, while short of a constitutional amendment, is by far better than the current system. If these specific IRS codes are repealed then the Democraps will be exposed for the socialists that they are once the economic benefits from this legislation becomes clear. Make April 15th just another day.

As lockliberty pointed out, the FairTax bill does legislatively end taxes on income. Because of the rules on how bills go through Congress, the legislative bill cannot also contain a Constitutional amendment, and vice-versa.

Nice idea. If the government gets rid of the stinkin' income tax and implements this "fair tax" I'll even consider going back to working full time. I just got so damned sick and tired of being taxed to death that I gave up on earning the big bucks, and now earn just enough to survive. My tax rate has dropped from %50+ to less than %10.

Let some other suckers pay the full tax rate, I just finally gave up and shrugged. I wonder how many other people finally threw in the towel and ended up doing the same thing? Maybe that's why they're FINALLY thinking about getting rid of the infernal income tax?

Nice try. What Congress CAN legislate it WILL legislate.

If the 16th Amendment is not repealed, Congress will retain the income tax. They'll have some sob story cover but you can bet Clinton, Schumer, Kennedy and the rest will insist, "for the children".

Congress has serially legislatively limited spending too. How long did that last? Every legislative 'victory' was quickly overcome and legislatively rendered impotent.

Clinton, Schumer, Kennedy and the rest, and their Liberal allies on the Republican side of the aisle, cannot be trusted.

The only way to guarantee the end of the income tax is to repeal the 16th Amendment. The only reason we have an income tax is because the 16th Amendment was required to get around the Constitutional restrictions on taxation that COnstitutionally prevented the Congress from imposing an income tax.

Indeed, before the 16th Amendment was ratified, the Supreme Court ruled that the income tax was unconstitutional. That's why the Left was forced to get the Constitution amended.

No repeal of the 16th Amendment, no 'Fair Tax'. Anything else is just a scheme to impose new taxes on us common folk.

Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

We won't be fooled again!
