Re your post #100, I believe you are right. President Bush was in office just 7 1/2 months on 9/11/01, and the administration was barely up and running due to the shortened transition time. They did a remarkable job just to have all the department secretaries and some of the deputy secretaries confirmed and in place in 7 months. A couple of key figures (e.g., FBI Directer and Joint Chiefs Chm.) took office just before and just after 9/11. Maybe the President was working around to restaffing the CIA, but didn't have the chance. Like you, I hope the President can clean house in his 2nd term (although I refuse to take his reelection for granted).

Wolfstar, I completely agree with you on not taking Bush's reelection for granted.
I was watching V.P.Cheney's excellent speech this morning on Cspan and just knew it would be partially covered since Bill Clinton was on tv everytime he said anything. Cheney doesn't hog the tv for heaven's sake! CNN decided the K.Bryant case being rehashed was more important.
When Bush was laying out his new Cuba policy at the WH today neither CNN or MSNBC covered it live. Laura Bush's UNESCO trip supporting world literacy was covered with a picture of 'the kiss'.
I am trying not to get freaked out about the media filter on Iraq now that the inbeds are gone and the assault by the media on anything Bush. The dem presidential candidates and anti war reporters are getting much more air time than the so called "bully puppet" of the WH.
If I only got my news from network news and NYT or WP, I would think Bush was a disgrace. The dems have not been able to win elections so the media has decided they must go all out to try and do it for them.
