If the cop, the prosecutor, my lawyer, the judge, and the jailer all belong to the same anonymous and private social club that I don't belong to and I have a beef with any one of them, I can expect impartial treatment from the rest of them?

Speaking from some experience in the matter, if your lawyer, the prosecutor, and the judge are all members of the same club, then that is a good thing.

Maybe they could move into adjacent offices down the same hall and we can just merge the executive and judicial branches into the defacto administrative branch and be done with it.
