"Sour grapes. If the rest of the country was willing to vote your way, you'd revel in it. And if you had the power to ram your version of morality down everybody else's throats, you'd do it in a heartbeat."

Lame and malicious.

Of course I'd be happy if the rest of the country got their heads and their hearts in the right place. But whether they do or they don't has no effect on the nature of right and wrong.

As for "forcing things down (peoples') throats," people advocating your positions are just as guilty of that as anyone. And that's how a republic works--people lobby for the laws they want to see, and vote for people they think likely to enact them.

And that's how child labor laws got forced down the throats of big business, how bigamy laws got forced down the throats of the Mormons, how statutory rape laws got forced down the throats of chicken hawks and pedophiles, how laws against dueling got forced down the throats of people who thought dueling a beneficial social institution, how speed limits got forced down the throats of people who like to drive fast, how legalization of baby killing got forced down the throats of people who abhor it, how laws requiring men to support their children got forced down the throats of men who want to live a life of irresponsible promiscuity, and how laws transgressing against freedom of association (such as laws forbidding discrimination on the basis of race, color, creed, sex, and mental disorder) got forced down the throat of a supposedly free society.

What? Oh, you favor some of those laws, don't you?

Well, in a republic, those who oppose you have as much right to complain about you forcing your morality down their throats as anyone else, and as much right to work against your agenda as you have to work against theirs.

More, actually, since right is right and therefore has a right to exist, while wrong is wrong and therefore has no right to exist.

Obviously I believe in democracy. That's why you don't see me sneering at anything 70-80-90% of Americans believe.
