"This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it, or exercise their revolutionary right to overthrow it." -Abraham LincolnMr. Lincoln settled in the blood of over half a million Americans whether or not we have a right to seperate from Washington D.C. The Declaration of Indepedence was rendered a dead letter by the first Republican president.

The Declaration of Indepedence was rendered a dead letter by the first Republican president.
Mr. Lincoln settled the issue for the 1860's to the extent that "might makes right", at least for a while. The pen is still mightier than the sword, and "write" will be "right" in the end. It will take less than 150 years to prove Lincoln wrong, and the "writ"ing of the Declaration will once again prove to be "right".
