I find it hard to believe that all this impasse is based only on Deaf Smith and Eastland counties, neither of which have significant voters. If Lubbock cannot defeat Stenholm, then Lubbock deserves Stenholm as its representative. Perhaps Senator Duncan is overestimating Stenholm's popularity in the Lubbock area. He must think that Stenholm would defeat Neugebauer. I still can't quite figure out how the Craddick district will be configured. It appears that Craddick won out in the negotiations, not Duncan. Is that correct?
