Don't get it. I plan to support Toomey and Bush. I see no conflict. Actually, I wish the Bush adm. would but out of this race and stop supporting Specter. This is a state race and we have suffered under Specter long enough.

Specter has a 46% American Conservative Union rating.
Because he can't hide his horrible record all he can do is attack...

Right on, Mol.
He might know Scottish law, but we know know scare tactics when we see them...
To: GeneralHavoc
Apparently, Specter's office is paying attention. That is the exact same argument that Arnold's crew used regarding McClintock (voting for the conservative underdog will not help Bush in 2004)... and they won. The only difference is that Specter is the incumbent, where in CA neither was (although Arnold was a clear favorite).
To: GeneralHavoc
That was addressed to another poster who had seriously suggested that a vote for McClintock was a vote to lose the War on Terror. One could get in to the pros and cons of supporting Arnold or McClintock but was a it over the top. I replied back that such a theory was inane and could be applied to any and all elections such as - surprise surprise - the Specter - Toomey primary. Specter should retire and study some Scottish law.

Plus this is a primary. The winner faces a D.
This is not a California free-for-all, it is a Republican Primary!

Specter MUST go!
To: GeneralHavoc
Righto! Specter is a RINO and RINOs are not Conservative Republicans. They just do a head fake at election time.

the challenger (Toomey) is in line with Bush on issues such as tax cuts, the sanctity of life and reining in spending. I guess I missed the part where GWB has "reigned in" spending

Specter aide: Toomeys campaign may hurt BushLike Specter being our senator helped Bush in 2000? PA went to Gore...
To: eeman
He did it at the same time he made the UN irrelevant.

He added that the primary could hurt Republicans in this years local elections, give a Democrat a better chance to win the Senate seat next year, and also have negative results in the 2004 presidential election. That argument makes no sense at all. In 2000, Bush lost PA to Gore by a few percent while Rick Santorum, who is more conservative than Pat Toomey, beat the living snot out of the Liberal Dem challenger. People in PA did not connect with Bush in 2000. They will in 2004.

Right on, Ditto.
This time Bush WILL carry PA, with Toomey at his side...
