Not all the details are yet being allowed for publication, but the little that's known indicates that the security fence was unable to stop the woman terrorist who wiped out three families and seven other people in Haifa four days ago.
Arutz-7's Kobi Finkler reports that the terrorist murderer - a woman lawyer from Jenin - was able to leave her city, even though it is enclosed by the fence, and travel the 50 kilometers to Haifa. Security sources say she arrived in Haifa in an Israeli-licensed car, supporting the hypothesis that her accomplices were Israeli-Arabs. Defense Minister Sha'ul Mofaz has forbidden Israeli-Arab workers to enter Yesha, for fear that they will smuggle terrorists over the Green Line into pre-1967 Israel.
Police are on their second-highest alert level, in light of the more than three dozen intelligence warnings of terror attacks. The complete closure on Arabs in Judea, Samaria and Gaza continues. Deputy Defense Minister Ze'ev Boim said today that there is currently no intention to call up the reserves in the framework of the war against terrorism.

I agree. I think the fence gives the feeling - the illusion - of security to the Israelis. It's a symbol. Giant walls didn't protect the Chinese, they didn't protect Communist East Germany, and I really don't think they'll help Israel now. Would-be terrorists and bombers these days look exactly like normal people.

They need something like the great wall with sentries.

And how do they know the explosives weren't already waiting for her in Haifa? Sorry, but to borrow from the gun debate: the bombs don't kill people, the suicide-bombers wearing them kill people.

Who killed the security guard enabling the HAMAS cide murderess to penetrate further into the
restaurant then most of the other bombings?
Have they arrested or killed them yet?

Weapons and fences do not help people that have no resolve to defend themselves.

What about the other bombers that didn't have an opportunity to murder Israelis because of the fence? Hadrian's Wall wouldn't have stopped an invading Army but it kept out marauding bands.

I had heard she made it through one of the "required" gaps in the fence that was meant to appease the Palis. I say close the gaps, to hell with the Palis, protect the Israeli citizens.

"They need something like the great wall with sentries." Like this?

At 25ft. in height, the Israeli wall, excuse me, "fence", is just about as tall as the Great Wall of China (average height = 26ft.), and over twice the height of the Berlin Wall (12ft.).
To: Nachum
"The fence is a waste."If the intent of the "fence" is to keep out homicide bombers, I agree.
But if the intent of the "fence" is to define new Israeli boundaries/borders beyond the Green Line and herd the Palestinians into an enclosed area which represents a fraction of the West Bank, it's a tremendous success.
To: Nachum
"Fence is a waste" Since the fence isn't completed yet, how do they know she "crossed" the fence? Arutz7 is assuming she had the bomb when she left Jenin. Is there a reason the car was not searched as it crossed the green line? Sniffer dogs aren't that expensive.

supporting the hypothesis that her accomplices were Israeli-Arabs. ...The fence is a waste...The fence looms large in the Palestinian vision. While it may not be the sum of all of their fears, it is a nightmare for them... A nightmare brought on by their own homicide bombers.
To: Tom Bombadil
A nightmare brought on by their own homicide bombers, who were brought on by Israeli occupation in the West Bank and Gaza. Some would say.
Were there homicide bombers before 1967?
To: Nachum
The fence is a waste. Well, it is so long as Powell insists (and Israel complies) that the fence have GAPS in it in Dozens of places, which this woman exploited. Israel should just build one long fence on the Jordanian border, and move everyone in Judea and Samaria onto the other side. Then they can use that expertise to build the same wall on the MExican border.
