When a party doesn't uphold it's platform - which the majority voted for - it has management and mission issues.
My party alliance has value on the open market.
I am now a free agent.
If the CA G.O.P. gets it together - I will be back. Right now I have a 25 year history with them in California and it hasn't been a good one.

Bump to that.
Thank you so much for your dedication, patience and restraint on these threads RD. You are a far better person than I am.
I'm on the fence re changing party alliances. It's only a matter of time before the GOP officially changes its platform. One of the reasons to register with a party is because you share their mission. I can't say that is the case any longer.
There are many disaffected, decline to state conservatives in this state. I may be joining some of you soon.

You know I am really tired of the Tom McClintock faction here preaching what is a Republican and what isn't. What is a conservative and what isn't. Heck, I even hear them telling people that they aren't Christians because they didn't vote for Tom McClintock.
Now I am sure that Tom McClintock is a good man and he has good principles. But to my mind he is no leader. He doesn't come across that way. He seems to be more of a clerical policy wonk type of guy who would be fine as an administrator but never as an executive. A Senate job would be perfect for him.
But that is neither here nor there. I respect the guy, but not many of his supporters here.
You can disagree with each other, vote differently, or whetever, but when people start telling others that they aren't Christians because they don't vote one way, that is just going TOO far.
And quitting because your guy didn't win. Wow! I'm not sure we need those types of people in the party anyway. Do yuo really think being a "free agent" is going to be anything great? You can go to the DemocRATS. I'm sure they will allow you to have influence in their party. You can go to the Constitution Party or the Libertarians. You will have a lot of say there. No power, but probably some say. You can feel good while the DemocRATS take control of the country because you weakened their opposition.
If you want to take your ball and go home then do it. I'm tired of the complaining. I'll not beg you to stay nor should anyone else. If you don't want to be in the Republican Party then go.
I hope that everything else goes well for you and I wish you well in your future endeavors.

So, would you be happier if the recall never happened?
Or failed?
Or lost to Cruz?
I think the emotion of victory should be joy.
