Did ya tell him that the URL for the picture has to be in Quotes? Or does it? I always do, but I've never tried it without...

basically, like this:

[img src="http://www.funnypicturesofuglydemocrats.com/haha.jpg"]

In the above, replace [ and ] with < and >

You don't have to use quotation marks. That's just something Ash probably thought of to try to make our lives miserable. I've never used quotation marks on my pics, just the URL.
