Why would Arnold deviate to the Democratic Party? He would have an easier time in politics as a Democrat. He has been a Republican since he arrived in America. He chose the Republican Party because he hated the socialism of his home country. Austria was not exactly a free-market state. His favorite book is Milton Friedman's "Free to Choose;" he gives it out to his friends. This guy is a true liberal Republican. He is not a snake like Jim Jeffords, he is a real, hardcore economic Republican who takes liberal positions on some social issues. He's closer to being a libertarian than a Democrat. Democrats hate him for a reason, and it's not because he's aping their candidates.

No, I don't think (R)nold will be changing his party affiliation anytime soon.
I think you about summed it up. "This guy is a true liberal Republican."
Right now, enthusiasm is high for (R)nold because the GOP is hopeful about what he can do for California's economy.
We'd need to wait a year or so to see if he really lives up to his "fiscal conservatism".
