Sounds like a RAT covert plan to get the networks to call the election for Arnold and the recall a win to discourage voters who haven't yet voted for either. Won't happen. People not in California can't understand what it feels like to vote for this election and the excitement at the prospect of taking back the government. Your analogy with Florida doesn't compute. If people were getting feedback that a vote for recall was hopeless, that might be the case. But all indications are that Gray is toast. And people want to be a part of of that.

I live in Central Contra Costa County in the NoCal Bay Area. Last November, there were, maybe, two voters in the room along with me to vote. After work, same time as today.
I drove up at 6 pm, saw a line. As I approached the door, I looked back and the line had quadrupled. It looked like the return line at Target on Saturday afternoon. Everyone seemed very anticipatory and there was a definite positive buzz, along the lines of, this is worth it, it's important.
I was in line for 20 minutes, and it was worth it.
