Unlike the Reverend William J. Byron, S.J., I am reserving judgment.

Loyola, New Orleans, has the reputation of being a "liberal" school.

His vioation must be of the faggitude variety because no receiving gender is noted. I thought they stopped resigning for this kind of stuff.

Fr. William Byron once said, on a Charlie Rose Show on PBS (I was in the studio) that the Church's teaching on abortion might someday change--after all, he said, it used to take weeks to cross the Atlantic Ocean, and now we can do it in hours. I don't think Byron is really pro-abortion, just a clod. Byron is one of those glad-handers who hop from one college presidency to another.
That yet another Jesuit college president has been accused of abuse, joining the many Jesuits who have died of AIDS, or who have otherwise been exposed as unchaste, is no surprise. The Jesuits have been in the forefront of the movement for contraception and other forms of sodomy, and abortion.
In 2000, Wheeling Jesuit University invited the nation's premier baby-murderer, Janet Reno, to be Commencement Speaker. Wheeling also has a building named after a baby-murderer--Robert C. Byrd.
If there is a single one of the 28 Jesuit colleges in the U.S. that has NOT showered public adulation on pro-abortion politicians and activists, I don't know about it.

Loyola, New Orleans, has the reputation of being a "liberal" school. I almost took a job there a few years ago. From my interview experience it appeared the economics department emphatically was not. Quite the opposite, in fact.
For whatever that is worth.

It's a long time since I've had much to do with the Loyola Jesuits, but I can report that 18 months ago he made his campus available as a forum for NOW president Kim Gandy. He has continued to obstruct the requirement of Ex Corde Ecclesiae, that Catholic teachers of theology obtain a mandatum. Also, Loyola hosts a gay/lesbian student club on its university web site, and makes sure they feel "included" on campus. You get the picture.

I mean theologically, which is now true of every Jebbie school. So such charges are to be expected.

Knoth also has been very much the man-about-town, as you can imagine. His mug appears regularly on the society page, hamming it up with the Great and Good.

Sadly no, but this one hits close to home for me. My Catholic grammar school adjoins the Loyola campus. I lived in that parish for 28 years, and was an altar boy for the Loyola/Holy Name Parish Jesuits (in that day, a different and better breed of men), close to 40 years ago.

If so, what is your opinion of the Jesuit University in Milwaukee? Just curious.

The Theology department of Marquette for years (still?) has been the home of pro-abortion ex-priest Daniel Maguire, who authored pamphlets for Catholics for a Free Choice, etc., etc.
To: Arthur McGowan
Yes, I remember him. Thanks.

To: Romulus
Well, good ridance, too bad they will replace him with another Jesuit.

"If there is a single one of the 28 Jesuit colleges in the U.S. that has NOT showered public adulation on pro-abortion politicians and activists, I don't know about it." Gonzaga University has absolutely not abetted the cause of pro-abortion groups. Over the past two years, they have welcomed Rev. Jesse Peterson to speak on campus, while denying use of campus facilities to the NOW gang. The administration took a lot of flak from liberals over this, but they stood their ground.
The President of Gonzaga, Fr. Robert Spitzer, SJ (Class of 1974) has written several excellent books, to include Healing the Culture.

Allow me to correct myself--I did a search of the Freeper archives and turned up a few articles under 'gonzaga'.
It was Planned Parenthood, not the NOW gang, that was denied use of campus facilities in April of 2000.
During March 2002, the administration did not allow the play "The Vagina Monologues" to be performed on campus.
The Rev. Jesse Peterson did speak on campus during October 2001.

Every Jesuit school is a liberal school.
