A call to Sen. Clinton's Washington office elicited a surprised reaction from a spokesman who said: "I don't know anything about it." Yeah, right. It has been discussed here for days but her office doesn't know?

Just tried googling this Leondard character. Came up with bupkis. That's interesting.

Maybe she figures her chances are better for getting nominated this time considering the slag heap of Dem candidates so far. Running against an incumbent president who isn't the greatest communicator and is being daily lambasted in the liberal press for everything under the sun would be preferable to running against someone like Condy Rice who would mop the floor with her in any debate senario.

I checked the FEC's candidate master file at
ftp://ftp.fec.gov/FEC/cn04.zip, and something seems wrong.
Candidate ID# P00003392 is, as the article states, for a District 03 race. It looks to me as though Candidate ID# P00003392 is for the presidential race. See the record layout at ftp://ftp.fec.gov/FEC/cn04.txt.
Maybe I'm reading the file wrong.

"This much is certain: She's foolish to think she can bide her time, strolling effortlessly to the Democratic nomination five years from now. If she wants to make history as the first woman in the Oval Office, her time has arrived." MSNBC begs Hillary to run WND | 9-29-03

Said another way:
... An end run is her only option. And contrary to conventional wisdom, time is not on her side. Not only are the clintons in general decline, not only is she vulnerable in '06, but in this post-9/11 world,
as more clinton failures and betrayals are documented, increasingly favorable demographics will prove insufficient to resuscitate disfavored, dysfunctional, dangerous democrat demagogues like the clintons. Look, therefore, for the clintons to make their move in '04. Susan Estrich, Al From and The Times aren't on the same "Get the clintons off the stage!" page for no reason.
