Every administrator in that school turned a blind eye to the endless bullying by both girls and boys.
A neighbor's daughter, early teens, attempted suicide as a direct result of the bullying.
Believe it or not, there were teachers that piled on certain kids too.
We used all her college money on private grammar and high school and don't regret it for a minute.

"What is going on here? Why this fascination with boy's butts by other boys? This goes beyond "gay agenda" influence. Normal boys would not want their hands anywhere near another boy's butt. Is it about humiliation? Is that the thrill? I don't believe that all these butt players are sexually interested in their victims."
This has little to do with sexuality at all. It's about power and humiliation. It's part and parcel of a lot of HS sports, I'm afraid. We had a case like this in my HS, and that was back in 1963. The football coach, also a gym teacher, was one of those buttheads who got off on humiliating the kids, particularly those who were not skilled in some sport.
His attitude spread to the entire football team, and one kid who went out for football was sexually assaulted by the entire team, using foreign objects, as happened in this current case.
But, in 1963, absolutely nothing happened to anyone involved. The kid became the target of jokes and other harassment after he reported the incident.
He shot himself in the head a year later and died.
Nothing has changed.

I think the reason why sexual behavior is often used among boys is not because of homosexuality, but the embarassment of the label. Plus boys who are sexually abused are often told no such thing, suck it up, it's good experience (esp. if it was an older woman),etc. Kids are very cruel. They will find the slightest difference, any weakness and will attack like jackals.
Yes many children who are bullied to do committ suicide. I was severely bullied in school. I'd never send my children to school period. I could not trust another human being with my children for such a long time.

Is it about humiliation? Yes.
There is a power vacuum in schools. Administrators and teachers are either unwilling or unable to enforce discipline. Children are left to create their own informal "government." Usually the law of the jungle applies: the strong survive; "kill" or be "killed."
Children have a very limited number of survival strategies. Either they can join the strongest faction or "keep their heads down." The weakest children are utterly defenseless. The dynamic is just like a prison situation.

I stood in the hallway of our local public school and watched a middle school girl jam another girl into the locker door. The nurse was passing by and I called the problem to her attention. She kept walking, saying that those two are always 'at it'. Remember, "it's all about the children."

Parents rule the schools because they vote on the budgets.
They don't care if their kids learn nothing as long as they get the grades.
Discipline is non existent.

I'd never send my children to school period. I could not trust another human being with my children for such a long time. Good for you. I don't understand how those of us (all of us?) who have seen this gladly turn our children over to the authorities. Is free babysitting worth it?
I survived by keeping my head down. But my junior high years were easily the worst years of my life. An anecdote. In fifth grade I took a bloody nose defending a mildly retarded kid who was harassed daily by a pack of three bullies. I was more or less a "leader" at the time and could afford it. In other words, I wasn't putting myself in any greater danger.
Two years later, when I was in junior high, I saw two upperclassmen beating up the same kid and kicking his books down the hall. I had a crisis of conscience, but couldn't muster the courage to defend him. Obviously, I still think about it from time to time to this day. I wonder what became of the harassed kid.
Yeah, free babysitting.

Since I live on Long Island, I've been following the news on this event. One of the victims was threatened by one of the attackers before going to camp and one of his parents contacted the school principle about it. The (soon to be) attacker was given a verbal warning and allowed to go on the trip. What really surprised me was reading that, even after this, the coaches slept in a separate cabin leaving the students to themselves at night! Talk about an adult abdication of responsibility...I wonder if the coaches thought a little hazing is all in fun and didn't want to be around when it happened?

...I wonder if the coaches thought a little hazing is all in fun and didn't want to be around when it happened? I bet you are right. It's probably a bit of the mentality, "Guys screw around. It happened to me and I am fine!"

Sodomy hazing should be punishable by death.

Send the rapists to prison where they will experience all the buttplay they want and then some and then they will come out and teach your children.
The only just punishment for them is death by execution. Until society shoulders its responsibility, our civilization will continue to decay and decline.

She shouldn't have believed the school official. She should have called the state district attorney and asked him/her if the scenario could be "turned around to implicate her son." I'd bet she'd find out differently.
Go to the press and make a big stink, call the state's Department of Education, call the US Department of Education -- don't just let some government lackey school official issue veiled threats and tell you to go away.
A crime was committed and it should be investigated by outside authorities, and those that are involved in a coverup should be charged.
