Ironically, the LA Times call the same day these allegations broke to offer me a subscription (incidentally it was the same day the NO-Call list went into affect). Boy did I give their telemarketer a piece of my mind. It's the only time I can remember a telemarketing calling that I was not at a loss for words.

Dude! You should have asked for a trial subscription for free. Two weeks worth and you could cover your garden to keep out weeds. I'm not suggesting actually buying it, of course.
