2000??!! They're still not over 1980!
I'm not over it either. I never will be. I'll never forget the monstrous audacity of the 'Rats in both stealing votes (especially in majority black districts, and then having the chutzpah to complain about the ballots of blacks, that they tampered with, being disproportionately spoiled!) and preparing ginned up protests, controversy and chaos in case their FRAUD turned up short.
Bullpucky.
The difference between "the other guy" (JUNIOR) and George W. Bush was 0.52% of the vote. Just over half a percent. Well within the margin of error for tallying. We will never know. Those were the counts that were certified so they stand but they are hardly anything to brag over.
Some states certified their presidential ballots without including all of the absentee votes. Since their states were not in contention, there was no "need" to hold the certification. Even in Florida the US Supreme Court said that the disputed military ballots were permissible but they were not included in the certified tally (an earlier tally was certified).
Then there is the issue of multiple balloting from some college students who admitted to voting at home and in another state, there were also some who voted multiple times in the same town. I overheard a student in Boston complaining (and admitting) that yes she voted several times but that she did it because she knew that the Republicans were going to steal the election.
Still think that 0.52% is true? How about if we just ran the same ballots through the machine a second time, think that the results would be exactly the same?
This "Algore Junior got more votes" business is a whiner's argument and hardly something to feel confident about. We will never know (unless we are to scrap the electoral college and have a national recount county by county).
Unbelievable. Was this guy around when Bush signed the anti-first amendment McCain/Feingold? Was he sleeping when Bush signed the $190 billion farm bill? Was he on vacation when Bush massively increased spending in the Dept. of Education and quietly dropped his voucher proposal so as not to alienate Democrats?
Did Kinsley expect a more liberal Republican?
