Schwarzenegger Candidacy Illustrates The Republican Party's Lack Of Commitment To ConservatismActually, it illustrates the state of Californias lack of commitment to conservatism. McClintock is clearly the better man, but he hasn't a prayer in CA at this time. One has to think of Arnold as a left coast Guiliani.
A party that cannot be flexible enough to win through incrementalism will forever be condemned to watching from the sidelines. This is the only way to get our foot in the door and show the people of CA that conservatism is not the demon the liberals claim it to be.

This is the only way to get our foot in the door and show the people of CA that conservatism is not the demon the liberals claim it to be. What do they learn if they only get conservative-lite? In this election, that would be someone who agrees with the liberals on nearly all of their social issues but is against higher taxes (in most circumstances). They learn that conservatism is about the money and liberalism is about the heart.
Is this really the lesson we want to be preachin'?

Another illustration of how the perfect (McClintock) is the enemy of the good (Arnold) for Conservatives. Arnold can help rebuild a moribund Republican party in California. And that is something McClintock never can do. Plus, I would rather trust a man who has both made and met a payroll (Arnold) vs. a man who has spent his whole life on the public teat.
