Socially, Sale has been described as a Neo-Luddite...Another well-known Neo-Luddite is Theodore Kaczynski, also known as the Unabomber. Kaczynski wrote a manifesto entitled "Industrial Society and Its Future" which was published in 1995 and contains elements that Sale agrees with.

Ohhh....kay....

Time for the tinfoil hat, folks.

And this is the type of author that the Green Party brings to a town...

Sure...they're a mainstream group...(rolls eyes)

During his time at the University, Sale served as editor in chief of The Sun

Liberal media alert.

Sale grimly predicted that "if [the corporate systems] continue on the course that they are now on, they will be like dinosaurs. They will bring a collapse effectively to western civilization, …certainly by the middle of this century."

A point by which, given his age, he will be conveniently dead.

As part of his plan for solution, Sale advocated a return to small - sized communities of approximately 500 people and noted that small government is the only effective kind of government. He then spoke passionately about the protection and the preserving of the bioregion

A bit of a contradiction there. On one hand, he says that communities should be split up into small (pop 500) towns. On the other he wants to preserve the bioregion. Doesn't he realize that splitting up all these towns into small communities would engender a hereto unseen "sprawl" across the entire country?

An audience member asked, "On a scale of one to 10, your level of optimism for what you're suggesting is where?" Responding, Sale said that "after the collapse and presuming that the human species survives, my scale is at 10."

ROTFL. Man, he's a real "glass half full" guy, isn't he?

Mike Bryant, a Cornell tennis instructor, said that "[Mr. Sale] spoke quite accurately in suggesting that any attempt to reform the current situation is a complete waste of energy and that what we need to do is to get completely off of this track, get out of this system and head into a completely different direction."

Yeah, I'm sure there's going to be a big demand for tennis instructors after the collapse of civilization. After all, what is more the sport of the proletariat than tennis? (rolls eyes)

I would like to take a moment to ask for donations.

It should be clear to all conservatives by now that the left intends to demonize us. They don't just disagree with us, they hate us. And worse, they want to get other people to hate us.

Places like Free Republic drive the left batty.

Please donate. Thanks for your consideration.

No evil, greedy corporation ever made me pay for something I didn't want.

OTOH, I've been skaken upside-down , held at the ankles, by commies, Dems, and libs with a firm notion of what I ought to pay for.

Shall we call it, henceforth, the Ithica Syndrome?

Cornell is the (State) University (of New York) of Evil.

Luckily, Colgate beat them for the 8th consecutive time on Saturday (football).

I'm glad he saved the rest of us the trouble of comparing him to The Unabomber.

The 1958 protest made national news</sarcasm>. I'm sure that the quality of student life at Cornell has greatly improved since then.
