This reminds me of the idiotic "Duck and Cover" exercises school children were taught during the cold war, and the backyard "bomb shelters" hyped at that time. As if school desks and family shelters would offer protection against a hydrogen bomb blast.
The times, the threats, and the enemy have changed, but the government mentality plows along as it always has.

As if school desks and family shelters would offer protection against a hydrogen bomb blast. No, but it would protect them from the shattered and pushed in windows from the shockwave miles away. As for a 3 day emergency kit in today's world? A gallon of scotch, a case of beer, a carton of cigarettes, a Zippo lighter with extra fuel and flints, a loaf of bread, and 6 cans of Chunky Sirloin Burger soup oughta be sufficient.

Depending on how far away from the blast you would be this could very well help.
If you were in the zone that just had the windows blown out being down could very well protect you. What most people your self inclued do not realize is that not verybody is going to be at ground zero.
The idea on not being readdy is pushed by the left to make every body feel helpless.
