Sure. State government and state laws are an essential front in the war to defend the RKBA, the ignorance and dishonesty of Arnold groupies notwithstanding.

There are over 100 candadates on the roster, I'm sure there are at least a few. You miss the point, which is the future after arnold when the bar has been set low enough for a Democrate to run as a Republican. Example in CA, no. Examples in other states that should make you think: Micheal Bloomberg, Lincoln Chaffee, Olympia Snowe, and before last year Jim Jeffords.

The state legislature, for the past two years, has passed a bill through both houses to ban .50 BMG rifles. Tom will veto this, Arnold will sign it.

The state legislature, for the past two years, has passed legilsation to apply a tax ( 10 cents) on each round of ammunition sold in the state. Next year, Arnold will sign it, while Tom would veto.
-a01-

"Tom will veto" nothing. He's unelectable.

And.. -- You have no real evidence Arnie would sign either bill..
-- Arnies a rino, -- & like all of them he has taken positions which help his popularity.
Once elected, he may surprise us all as a one term reformer on individual liberties. If he doesn't, -- what have we lost?

Does this mean you have come to your senses & now deny that CA has the power to prohibit assault weapons?

Heather Peters

What positions does she allegedly take to the left of Arnold?

If elected, Arnold will have the power to do considerable damage to our RTKB, while you squeal in delight.

The GOP establishment has denigrated the Second Amendment in this campaign as a mere "social issue" out of many, instead of what it really is—a keystone of a free republic. It's time they learned that for some of us—I pray enough—their assault on our right to keep and bear arms under force of law is a declaration of war.

What scares me is that the gun owners in CA haven't come unglued and raised enough hell to be heard all the way to DC. If the government can sail through this like a walk in the park, they will be doing it all over the country. It has to stop now!

California could repeal the law, but Arnold and his groupies wouldn't like that.

Indeed it is. .....And the Republcrats will find out the hard way, so it appears.

Yep. That's what it looks like to me too. It's hard to tell them apart these days. Our friends are few and our enemies are many.

The law was passed years ago. Arnold wants the restrictions to be preserved and even extended, while his groupies squeal their support.

The federal law (1994 Assault Weapons ban) is what Schwarzenegger was most likely referring to. As governor, he has zero ability to influence this, despite the strained logic of the article at the top of this thread. The fact that we're kicking the topic around in this forum shows that pro-gun voters are *not* asleep.

California's state law re: registering or banning assault weapons (Roberti-Roos, signed into law by a *Republican*, IIRC) is already pretty darned all-encompassing. They've pushed about as far as they can go, short of confiscating all semi-automatics.

Based on Roberti-Roos, the "SKS Sporter" buy-back program was the first step down the road to confiscation. The state was paying $200.00+ for each detachable-magazine SKS rifle turned in. Do any of you CA FReepers have the budget numbers and percentage of compliance info on that particular project? Expanding such a program to all currently-registered semi-autos sounds less than viable, financial speaking.

The fact is, if you don’t vote for Tom McClintock, you will be telling all politicians who support us—and they are few and far between—that their faithfulness didn’t count, and that you will turn your back on them whenever someone bluffs you into thinking it is the “pragmatic” thing to do.

This has to be THEE best article I've read since ISSA decided "RED" Davis and his Dumbocratic Legislature needed to be held accountable for their intentional overspending!
