Except that I will prolly change the syrup to "Chocolate" extract, I like this idea. I am so tired of decaf coffee (even my Kona, for Pete's sake!!) and Diet RC. This has given me the incentive to make more of my own drinks.

What is the deal with regular coffee and regular diet pop on Atkins? Are these off the food list on this diet?

Ok, caffeine causes an insulin response which is supposed to cause hunger and lousy blood sugar.

Regular diet sodas contain Aspartame. Earlier on this thread, someone gave the link for an article on how Aspartame degenerates to or causes methanol (I think - I read it pretty quickly as I have a problem with Aspartame anyway - caues mouth sores if I drink more than 3 Diet Cokes a week). I don't remember where the post was, but you can find it.

Atkins encourages you - if you are not losing weight, to give up caffeine in sodas and coffee, and to avoid Aspartame like poison.

Whenever I start slowing down on the weight loss, I give up the coffee by starting with half decaf and half regular and then constantly diminishing the regular. Unlike AF_Blue, I cannot stand the headaches, and mine are crushers that last for 3 days. Gives me the idea of what migraine sufferers have to live with and I don't like it. Then I get serious about buying Diet RC (sweetened with Splenda) though I happen to think it is an acquired taste. I'm really partial to my Diet Cherry Coke but I'll give up something if it appears to be slowing me down!!
