Long Beach -- California Democrats, desperate to keep Gov. Gray Davis from being recalled Tuesday, went on an all-out offensive against Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger Friday, pounding on accusations of sexual misconduct and reported comments he made about Adolf Hitler.

But the actor-turned-politician, enjoying huge, enthusiastic crowds as he barnstormed the state in a six-bus caravan, brushed aside the complaints and campaigned with the confidence only a growing lead in the polls can provide.

Heidi Fleisher reported that Dumocraps tried repeatedly to get her to say she had a film of Arnold and women. She said she told them to stop harassing her or she'd call the police.

Well, thats a new one to me. Where did you hear/read/see this? Source please. Also, has this been widely disseminated (that means told at lots of places to those of you in Reo Linda - we love ya Rush)?

I heard the Heidi story on talk radio several times this week. Of course, I fling the dial so much, I don't remember which stations.

These guys are ones to talk. Arnold may have groped some women, but Davis has actually slammed them around, and Clinton rapes them. Not to mention Ted Kennedy submerging one.

Best summation I've read so far. Ted Kennedy - don't go to the submarine races with that one.

I have been conducting a very unscientific study of voting trends in San Jose. Almost without exception, male and female, say they are voting for Arnold. Even the Die-hard Dems.

Could we be looking at a landslide for Arnold next Tuesday?

LOL--then he's in bigger trouble than a few smearjobs against Arnold can solve, Unless, as one wag, said, they have pictures of Arnold in bed with a dead girl or a live boy. . . the weekend ain't over yet, and you know what you can do with PhotoShop these days.

Davis, Gephardt, the Gov. of Iowa... and they could only get 35 people to attend (and most were Union Cranks probably being paid to stand there anyway).

Who can possibly believe that this idiot is going to survive on Tuesday?

"If true, his personal behavior was disturbing and unacceptable, and his professed admiration of Adolf Hitler unconscionable," Davis said, adding later that "I don't see how anyone could express admiration for someone who killed 10 million people and is one of the most reviled figures in world history."

Probably the legion of lawyers he's doubtless hired to overturn the recall in court.

At this point, I don't believe anything anyone says about this issue. There's too much about it that makes it impossible for anyone other than the participants to know exactly what was said. The only thing that would put it to rest would be if Arnold had the Pumping Iron outtakes where it was discussed. Short of that, given Schwarzenegger's past record, I'd say it's safe to assume that he's not an admirer of Hitler, and the NYT has shredded whatever remained of its credibility.

The execution of the smear was a portent of what we can expect going forward into Campaign 2004.

After the initial expose by the Times had a full day to be magnified, pundit mauled, bellowed by Jennings and the other once-weres, given full time to be presented on the Left Coast ... let's drop the ARNOLD IS HEIMLICH HIMMLER'S ARYAN CLONE smear.

ABC broke the news ... ah, but not really. They didn't break into "Celebrity Proctologist" to trumpet their scoop, they didn't have the ballsack and integrity. Nah, they sent it to DNC cabana boy Drudge, Drudge put it on the "Fly My Pretty's" Siren Alert, and then Keith Olberman is handed a note and he reports what Drude reported that ABC reported that Arnold's biographer reported. FOX and CNN followed.

That's all it takes for a smear these days. ABC doesn't even have to break their breaking news, they tell Drudge and Drudge tells Hysterical Olberman producer who gives it to sleazy Keith who announces it without hesitation or doubt. CNN picks it up, then FOX breaks in. ABC might have mentioned it during their 4:35 am news break.

ABC gets credit for the original report, but they didn't actually jump on it just in case it falls apart. That's the job of the mindless cable outlets. "MSNBC has just learned that Bravo Channel considers Ru Paul "one helluva woman".

I would almost wager real paper cash that prior to Schwarzenegger's comment on who he admired, he had discussed his childhood in post War Austria, and I'll bet Hitler was referenced and discussed in some way. Anyone who thinks Arnold brought Hitler up out of the clear blue is being worked. It seems like a conversational link. ... the bogey man Hitler had been put on the table, and he was now a legitimate subject to introduce in the context of answering that question.

For Example "Who do you admire?" "Take Vlad The Impaler for instance, forcing an entire village of people over a cliff to be impaled on sharp metal spikes, you have to admire that innovation he brought to the art of impaling." That's an alarming response on first take, but if we had talked about Vlad the Impaler previously, my answer would be quite acceptable.

Probably the legion of lawyers he's doubtless hired to overturn the recall in court.

I predict rampant confusion, inadequate staffing, faulty instruction, missing registrations and massive voter error in minority districts using the controversial punch card voting machines.

"I voted and voted and voted and nothing happened!"

"I asked twice and nobody could tell me how to vote."

"I looked at that paper for five minutes, it still made no sense."

"I asked him to speak Spanish, and he told me I should go back to Mexico".

"I saw the police arresting black folk and driving them to jail .... just for wanting to vote."

"I forgot what Miguel told me, so I just poked all the holes out."

San Mateo Rep. Tom Lantos, a survivor of the Holocaust, was even harsher.

I've never seen a mention of Tom Lantos that did not include the Holocaust reference. Then again, who hasn't?

I may be bonkers, but I think I might have read here on FR that he and his wife converted from Judaism to the Mormon faith some time back.

He's an insufferably pompous guy, but he's not entirely contemptable. He's a staunch ally of Israel, and that's admirable and puts him on the good guy team. He understands the menace of Islamism, and has been supportive of Military engagement in Iraq. That's a cookie too. Oh, and he's one of George Soros' good pals I do believe. TILT! EJECT!

I saw the "Pumping Iron" movie, or some other documentary on the Mr. Universe Contest, years ago. Arnold was the most intense intimidator I've ever seen. The new phenom was Ferrigno I believe, and Arnold mind effed him mercilessly. Arnold was the reigning Champ, he was written off because of the emergence of Lou "The Hulk" Ferrigno and some guy from Brazil named Sergio.

Arnold won the title. Ferrigno was a much bigger man but Arnold dwarfed him on stage. Ferrigno physically shrunk when he squared off with the Legend. It was amazing to see. The machinations, politics, displays, trash talking and all or nothing nature of the event made it pretty interesting. There were lots of eager groupies hanging about offering their charms to the boys, I do recall that. It was a hedonistic hothouse.

That was a window into Arnold though. Bodybuilding and Hollywood are two snakepits that Arnold mastered brilliantly. This campaign is his third objective, and his track record is impressive. He thrives among vipers.

He's going to be a fantastic steward of the public interest, he's going to bring the Dem-isolated identity groups into the family, and he'll be a tireless evangelist for the renaissance of California.
