Rush's best friend is Clarence Thomas, who is also a conservative against affirmative action. There is an article in the paper today saying that Rush sees things through racist eyes. I will write that editor a note reminding him that Rush and Clarence are best buddies and have been for many years. The Thomases had their wedding at Rush's house~

I am not saying that Rush is a racist or not (though I do believe he has made some racist statements) but may I suggest that you not use the "Some of my best friends are black" defense regarding Clarence Thomas. It does not help.
Being friends with one percenters(most successful, most influential) is easy. These are the best and brightest and considered likable by many in many different communities but being friends with Clarence Thomas is evidence of nothing except that you are friends with Clarence Thomas.

And Rush is far too classy to invoke his friendship with Judge Thomas (or Bo Snerdly) as a defense against the charge of racism. Too bad.
