The author has it backwards. It's the Arnold camp which is causing a socialist - Arnold himself - to be elected.

You DO remember Arnolds quote about Milton Friedman, don't you? Socialist, indeed. there may be good reason to vote against Arnold, but a follower of Milton Friedman is not a socialist. Etc.

I was actually surprised that Freedman came out in support of Arnold. As an Econ major his text books were the staple! However, Milton is a realist.
