Unless the police wanted to be in a position to observe the transaction. I might have missed it, but how did the suppliers get caught?

Although securing a lawyer amid these charges makes me doubt it, is it possible that Rush went to the police as soon as his house keeper engaged him in conversation about supplying drugs?

I have to think Rush knew what would happen when they got caught, there is no honor among thieves.
