He should have ignored the whole thing. Why dignify any of it?
To: Tamsey
Mr. Butler is a shill and all the Tom supporters here, who jumped all over this, with glee, need to cut it out.
To: onyx
Smearers never care what the facts are, just as long as they can find someone to swallow, as whole cloth, whatever it is they're peddling.
Like President Bush, Arnold is a great deal more intelligent than his detractors want to believe , or will admit to. :-)
To: Nonstatist
He cannot afford to ignore this. The Nazi allegations are toxic - especially since he's an Austrian.
I think this is a far more serious threat to him than the "bimbo eruptions"...

It's a 2-fer. He sets the record straight and kills Butler's book.
As absurd as it is (nazi, Hitler, etc) please watch the replay of Hardball coming up at the top of the hour to see for yourself how the issue WAS playing against him.
Have a barf bag handy --- Gloria Allred is the vociferous and vile, lying b!tch, who states "6,000,000 reasons for NOT voting for Arnold" --- 6,000,000 Jews murdered in Holocaust.

WHY "PROVIDE DETAILS"??? A SIMPLE DENIAL OR "CAN'T REMEMBER" WAS DOING JUST FINE. HE CAN AFFORD TO IGNORE ALL OF THIS DIRT FOR THE NEXT 3 DAYS. WHY DO THE MEDIA'S JOB FOR THEM?

Mr. Butler said the book proposal had erroneously dropped a few words from a quotation attributed to Mr. Schwarzenegger. According to Mr. Butler's reading of the transcript, Mr. Schwarzenegger followed his comments about Hitler's public speaking by adding, "But I didn't admire him for what he did with it." He did not say, "I admire him for being such a good public speaker and for what he did with it," as he was quoted in the book proposal and in early editions of The Times. Mr. Butler said he could not explain the inaccuracy. "I am amazed that something like that escaped me."

Pretty obvious what Mr. Butler was up to when he helped smear Arnold. Hope he chokes on his thirty pieces of silver.

"The election is days away. It is too late."A good reason to never vote absentee. I always wait until the late afternoon of election day.
To: Bonaparte
Agreed. Oddly though, all that absentee voting may save the recall if revelations continue to come out. On the other hand, the early mountains of absentee votes means that Tom McClintock can't emerge victorious based on all the late emerging revelations.

Yesterday, Douglas Kent Hall, a writer and photographer who co-authored Mr. Schwarzenegger's autobiography, "Arnold: The Education of a Body Builder," said that on two occasions around 1980 he, too, had watched Mr. Schwarzenegger imitate Hitler gestures and appearance for laughs. Mr. Hall provided a photograph of Mr. Schwarzenegger clowning around in a barbershop, pulling his hair down over his forehead, employing the end of a comb as a short mustache, and raising his fist. "To some people that is funny and to some people it is not funny," Mr. Hall said, adding that Mr. Schwarzenegger was entering his acting career at the time. Gee, how dare an actor be so crude as to playfully mimic Hitler, raising a fist, etc....

If anyone sits down and reads through the entire history of Hitler...they come away with three simple things.
Number one: Hitler came from a no-name village, a no-name family, rose to corporal in WW I, and somehow became the head of Germany in 15 short years.
Number two: Hitler's entire knowledge base at 18...was art. He had no college or further education in life. Almost half of the reasons the Germans were defeated...was because of his incompetence.
Number three: His abilities in front of audiences are legendary. He could call upon an entire nation to stand with him against the free world. But this also shows just how naive then entire nation of Germany really was.

Al Rantel was burying the NY Times this evening on his radiobroadcast. I don't know if you get him where you live. But he even had Susan Estrich on a big time Lib and she was even condemning the smear attacks on Arnold and calling them exactly what they are dirty politics with no substance.

"Wow. I thought he didn't remember anything about it. Looking more like a Clintonian Statesman everyday."You didn't even read the article did you? None of it refered to what Arnold remembers. It refers to his campaign cooperating with the slimey press to get the full story out for the public to judge. But i see it's useless for you, because unless Arnold walked on water tommorow he's already a condemned man in your eyes. Get off the McC bandwagon already and read the whole article.

Well, we'll never know for sure how many absentee voters would have switched in either direction. Call it a hunch, ambrose, but I think the more mud that comes Arnold's way, the more voters will pull the lever for him on Tuesday. Liberals have blinded themselves with their hatred for everybody Republican. They have no idea how bad they look.
To: Ichneumon
As the Russians were closing in on Berlin, and Hitler realized that all was lost, he did everything he could to destroy Germany and the German people. Afterall, it couldn't have been his fault, so it had to be them who let him down.
As Davis begins to see that he's doomed, he's doing everything he can think of to destroy the state of California and punish its people. Afterall, it couldn't be his fault, so it must be those evil voters who have it in for him.
But somehow, it's Arnold, not Davis, who gets compared to Hitler. The Left is like that. IIRC, it was one of Shroeder's pro-Saddam goosesteppers who compared President Bush to Hitler.

good post.
I would add resentful to naive.
