Or how about why bother? With his income range, AMT and the 7% rule for medical deductions I would safely assume there is no reason to keep any paperwork. But why do I need to tell someone as smart as you the obvious. I'm sure there was no malice in your theory.

No malice here. But I'm not willing to sound like the Clinton suckers who jumped up and down screaming about conspiracies only to find out that their hero had been less than candid. If Rush is an addict, then he needs help. What he doesn't need is a bunch of people making excuses for or rationalizing his behavior. Been there, done that.
