It's possible that Rush took some pills (for weight loss?) but the 100 pills per day allegation is most likely exaggerated. Whatever the case, this experience should be a warning NOT to experiment with that first pill.

I think Rush is hurting himself by trying to defend his actions on his web-site. He should just issue a blanket apology and move on, something akin to "I shouldn't have introduced social commentary in a football game, I apologize to anyone I may have offended", and move on. I have a great deal of respect for Rush, but this was CATESTROPHIC! It was such poor judgement, that he sets the conservative movement back many steps with one fell swoop. If you read the NY papers, all of the columnists are calling him, and OTHER CONSERVATIVE talk show hosts racist...

What does he hope to achieve by it? It was a SPORTS show, he should have left his politics at the door. What a DUMB move.

He should have anticipated this, and should not have attracted more unwanted attention, especially if he has this other "drug issue" in the woodworks...

Being a conservative commentator, he has plenty of enemies to begin with. How could he think that the drug scenario (if true) won't be uncovered? All it takes is a one-two wallop and his credibility is destroyed by the mainstream (I'll still enjoy listening to him).

It gives the libs ammunition to continue to paint all conservatives as racist, using anecdotal evidence like this - what Rush said certainly wasn't racist, but the libs will paint it in that way, and already have.

A HUGE breach of judgement from someone I find to be one of the most intelligent, intuitive, creative minds I've seen in a long time.

I missed it, but when I type while listening I can miss key phrases. He did address a couple years ago on air taking so much medication, so time will tell if that is what he was referring to.

He's doing two things here;

A: Not giving his enemies any rope to hang him with.

B: Letting his enemies hang themselves.
