Read carefully the invasion continues. The higher ups in the Border patrol deny that there are invaders from countries tagged as harboring terrorists but, talk to individual patrolmen on the line over coffee and you get an entirely different story.
We need to close the borders tight!
NOW!
Then talk about a "guest worker" program.

Most who enter through Arizona go to California.
Arizona's worker's comp laws are not as liberal and it's prisons would be consdered out of the dark ages compared to California's TV for two approach to incarceration.

*Agents apprehended 56,554 illegal immigrants this year, in comparison to the 42,654 in 2002. That's an increase of 33 percent.
These statistics are from the Yuma paper. I think the critical question is: how many did they not catch?

In the previous fiscal year, there was 955,310 apprehensions along the entire 2,000-mile border. This year's preliminary figures show a 24 percent decline. JackelopeBreeder, formally of FR, just got word to me that the Herald or whoever gave the Herald the percentage goofed. It should be 2.4%. When I posted the story originally I didn't QA the authoring of the Herald.
The correction tells a different story than the one given.

Illegal immigration figures down for nation
Not your fault, but this is a misleading headline. Apprehensions are down, indicating, at best, a slower growth rate of the Illegal Alien population. Since over 90% of Illegals are captured withing three days of crossing the border, a decrease in apprehensions might also be accounted for by a decrease in back and forth traffic by more established Illegals.
