AN DIEGO (AP) -- Gubernatorial front-runner Arnold Schwarzenegger acknowledged that he has "behaved badly" to women and offered an apology Thursday.

Schwarzenegger's remarks, as he kicked off a four-day bus tour of the state in the final days of the recall campaign, came after a Los Angeles Times story published Thursday in which six women accused him of sexually harassing and groping them.

Saundra might think I was teasing her if I said what you said, but I sure agree with what you said about what she said, and what she said was way good!

"I think the general apology is sufficient unless someone else speaks up for herself."

I agree. I was responding to NittanyLion who stated that because he apologized in general, that he was admitting to the particular accusations in the story, and was therefore guilty of sexual assault. Which of course, was a massive twisting of what Arnold actually said.

Might I offer this. Assuming Arnold is Calif Gov, why not have McClintock represent the state in the US Senate?

Why does McClintock have to be part of the state administration? Why wouldn't he be a far better representative than Boxer or Feinstein? Why hasn't he shown statewide name recognition, etc?

My fear is this: McClintock becomes the Nader/Perot of 2003. We get Bustamante. And everyone (including me) will blame McClintock and he'll never get out of Ventura.

Yep...to put it mildly.

I know it's a worn out phrase, but politics does sure make strange bedfellows.

Who would have ever dreamed that some freepers would stand shoulder to shoulder with the LA Times and not even hint at a bit of suspicion?

Seriously.....whoda thunk it?

"Gosh, and with all of this noise in the news, I don't know what McKay's testimony is today. Hmmm..." Just as I suspected a no story. Looks like the writers have decided Bush will only get one term. This Clark guy really makes me want to change the channel.

I know. One wonders how many freepers took the original breaking story of GWB's DUI at face value? My recollection is not so many.

Yep. But when one waits under the table for any scrap to fall one's way, sometimes a speck of stale crust will be gobbled as if it were a 20 pound turkey.

Just adding additional info to this thread........

Deadline Hollywood
Imitation Is . . .
L.A. Times’ Cohn called Premiere article author for help
by Nikki Finke

We all knew it was in the works, and even people at the paper despaired whether it would ever see the light of day, but the word was that the Los Angeles Times was trying to be exhaustive in its investigation of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s background.

The more fitting word to describe it is exhausted.

Published four days before the election after seven weeks of reporting by three Times staffers, the article turned out to be nothing more than another detailing of Schwarzenegger’s "grab and grope" behavior not just similar to John Connolly’s Premiere article back in 2001 but even with one of the same women cited in his story. That may not be a coincidence.

The L.A. Weekly has learned that the Times’ much-vaunted new investigative reporter, Gary Cohn, started his reporting on this piece by calling — get this — Connolly.

According to Connolly, Cohn asked him not to pen an article but to "maybe help us out a little" without pay or credit. Responded Connolly: "I don’t think so." Nor does he now think that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

It’s a real blot on the Times’ new administration that the article doesn’t advance the Schwarzenegger character story one iota. And it’s not an auspicious debut for Cohn, who was hand-picked by old pal editor John Carroll. This is so typical of the Times, especially on entertainment-related stories: a lot of anticipation during the reporting only to be followed by disappointing results. There’s not even a sidebar that tries to get to the bottom of why the women making the sexual-harassment charges are so convinced they’ll be blackballed if the movie industry knows their names. What a pity that Hollywood can rest assured it’s still business as usual on Spring Street despite the different ownership.

The LATimes isn't exactly covering themseves in glory these days, huh?

http://www.eurweb.com/articles/headlines/09302003/headlines1149409302003.cfm

Former Hollywood Madam Heidi Fleiss tells Celebrity Justice exclusively that she has been harassed and ambushed by representatives from the LA Times and the Boston Globe, trying to find out if the actor turned candidate has ever had a penchant for hookers.

“These two guys come up and they just start questioning me,” Fleiss says, with “very intrusive questions about Arnold Schwarzenegger. They look like FBI agents, but they’re from the Los Angeles Times.”

Fleiss tells “CJ” that she may sue the two papers if they don’t leave her alone. Why the sudden interest? Fleiss tells “CJ” that she thinks it’s because of her video tape “Hollywood Madam Parties,” which she hosts.

“Somehow some rumor has gone around that I have some orgy footage with Arnold Schwarzenegger and two women involved in an orgy,” she says. “No. I have nothing of the sort.”

You're rhetoric is that of an ignorant person when it comes to politics. The fact that you're so willing to support a liberal candidate, clearly shows, as with that candidate, you're no conservative either.

Arnold is a total fraud and so are you.

I love to see the compassion flow from the true conservative such as yourself... You do your fellow 'pure conservatives' a great justice. Your 'pure, principled, true, moral' conservative statements are a joy to behold. It really speaks well of you. I'm glad to be in your presence. I feel so honored to be shown the 'true conservative' light by you. Thanks for sharing.

If you choose to support Arnie, fine.

If you choose to trash McClintock, fine.

When you personalize your rhetoric and aim it at me, I'll fire back with both barrels. If you don't like it, too bad.

Now go post some of your polling data and show us how much you love Arnie the liberal.

This story will give Arnold a 5% boost in the polls. Californians will love him even more after learning about this. This is California, people!!

Sheeeeeeesh! Maybe if McClintock weren't so clean and conservative, he could be popular with the stupid CA masses, too.
