Why We Should Boycott ESPN
Posted on 10/02/2003 7:52:46 AM PDT by Libs R Evil
ESPN could easily have come out and said that Rush said nothing wrong, and said they supported him and wanted him to stay, but instead they sat back and did nothing. IMO anyone who aquiesces to PC naziism, or refuses to stand up against it is part of the problem. IMO its time for a boycott of ESPN.

You know, i saw the original exchange when it was aired. This was basically it:
Rush: The Eagles and McNabb have been overrated from the beginning, their defense is more responsible for their success. I beleive part of the reason is the sports media takes race into consideration and is more willing to forgive the flaws and overrate the successes of black quarterbacks.
Tom Jackson: I disagree. McNabb is an excellent player who is having some difficulty this season. I don't agree that he is overrated, but even if he was, it wouldn't have anything to do with race.
That paraphrase was basically the exchange in a nutshell. Raise your hand if you think it was worth a man losing his job over it.

The truth is that affirmative action exists in America. Whether McNabb is overrated because "the media" wants to see him succeed is arguable at best.

Yeah....and that's what's going on here....someone (RUSH) gave an OPINION and now he's been tossed.....how special....I guess the thought/word police have WON!

Exactly how has Rush's freedom of speech been trampled on?
To: GSWarrior
It's NOT just RUSH'S freedom of speech....it's the freedom to have an OPINION.....oh, that's right.....conservatives can't have "Opinions" .....only commie liberals can.

A show about the NFL is not a sports show. The league is not about the glory of athletic contest; it's about making money in politically correct fashion. If nobody went to or watched their games, would the NFL play? If the team didn't win, what would the league do? Contrast that with Prairie View A&M. Few people go to their games, they're never on TV, they own the longest losing streak in the history of football, yet they still play. When watching the NFL these days, I feel like I'm watching WCW or WWF wrestling. It's difficult for me to root for my city's team when almost none of the players on the team have anything to do with my city except that they film what amounts to a TV show in our taxpayer-built stadium.

There were many black callers to Jim Vicevich's radio show this morning (WTIC 1080 AM - Hartford, CT). Every caller I heard was not offended at all with Rush's comments on ESPN.

S/he's calling for a boycott against ESPN as a stance against "evil".

ESPN supports the leftists idea of "free speech"....any conservative opinion is subject to the PC POLICE....what libs say is NOT.

There has been very little in the way of outrage concerning the criminal conduct by some black athletes which even begins to compare with the huge uproar and firestorm over what John Rocker said. The media DOES have a double standard.
The comments by Rush are not deserving of someone losing their job. However, he did resign, and I don't blame him. Who wants to hang around cowardly executives?

Even if that's the real reason, it makes him look like a quitter who wilts under a little heat. His bosses should have backed him, but I also would have fought harder.

ESPN isn't sponsoring the witch hunt against Rush, it's the parasites on the left who routinely trample free speech only when spoken by conservatives. Clarence Thomas is Exhibit "A". The left tries to stop his speaking engagements all the time.
If you call for a boycott against the NY Times, LA Times, Seattle PI, SF Chronicle, CNN, pMSNBC, ABC News, CBS News, NBC News, The Today Show, and other mainstream liberal media I'm with you.
