Wrong! Most doctors under prescribe pain meds for fear of undergoing audits by The DEA. Cancer patients, even terminal patients, suffer as a result.Sad but true. Oxycontin is (i believe) a class III drug, which means the prescription is in triplicate form and a refill cannot be called in. You have to get another prescription from your doctor each time.

Doctors do underprescribe pain medications. I've had a herniated L5-L6 (yes, some folks have an extra vertebrae) for a few years, and only manage to get pain pills about once a year if I complain loud enough. I started ordering Ultram over the internet, it works OK I guess. On the up side, the lack of pain pills got me into swimming, and the pain seems to have improved quite a bit.
I just cannot fathom that this is a true story about Rush. Of course, it took a while for 9-11 to sink in too.
This is really ugly. Every time I hear someone say something bad about the US or Pres Bush, it takes a lot of restraint for me not to whack them in the face with a beer bottle.
