as a Yankee fan, I'm not satisfied unless my team wins it all. Anything less is utter failure. That being the case, I think you're in for a long depressing winter.

But then again, as a Yankee fanYou are the ONLY fans (in all of sports) who have earned the right to make a statement like that.
During those awful 25 years I used to envy the Boston fan and wondered what the hell they were griping about?
They won Division Championships, Pennants, played in a GREAT World Series and seemed to be competitive and in the thick of things EVERY year....Great baseball!
I swore I would never complain if the Bravos could just be competitive.
Never could I have dreamed 13 straight Division flags.
162 great games and then be disappointed just because they couldn't get all 11 more?
Only a Yankee could be so pushy, cynical and demanding. :o)

Long depressing winter? Not really. On the rare occasions when the Yanks don't win it all, I forget about in a few days and focus on the NFL, secure in the knowledge the they'll be serious contenders again the next year....and the next.....and....

What's weird is that since the Braves won in '95, two expansion clubs-Florida and Arizona-have won titles.

Followed by 12 years of ecstasy
Your ecstasy, my agony.
Next year !!

You are the ONLY fans (in all of sports) who have earned the right to make a statement like that. Celtics fans used to be able to make such a statement, but it's been almost 20 years since Auerbach has lit a victory cigar, so that time is probably over. And remember, the Yanks had long dry spells of 15 years ('62 to '76) and 17 years ('79 to '95), so we fans have had lotsa pain as well. Recent history has been relatively kind, however.
I swore I would never complain if the Bravos could just be competitive. Never could I have dreamed 13 straight Division flags.
Good points; I'd probably be happy with these last dozen years as well (if I were a longtime Braves fan).

Let's not forget that one game where the White Sox actually wore shorts. I don't remember that, and it's just as well.

Well at least you have History...Independence Hall....The Liberty Bell.
All we have is Six Flags, Stone Mountain and Varsity Chili Dogs.

Varsity Chili Dogs. Sounds good right about now. Are those famous in ATL?

The less said about the Hawks, the better. Not around these parts. The Seahawks are 3 - 0.

Cubs fans who have tickets to Saturday's game probably don't mind tonight's result.
