The drugs he is accused of "abusing" are same ones John McCain's wife was defitely abusing (See Salon for a piece on that).
One of the symptoms is the rapid loss of hearing.

I know you are a journalist that used to work for a major newsweekly. Do you have this on good authority?

Think back: how many times over the last two years has Rush asked us to "excuse the sniffles"? My guess is that he has been crushing percs or vikes and snorting them. That would also explain the weight loss.
Opiates are very dangerous. If he was indeed prescribed them, it is not surprising that he perhaps became addicted. Even the best of people--and I include Rush in that crowd--cannot avoid all temptation.

Try as they may, the leftist loonies will not be able to discredit Rush over this - unless it's proven that he's been taking massive amounts which is highly unlikely considering his busy schedule and how cogent he is every day. It's just another lame attempt at scandal when you can't answer with the facts or the truth.

This may make a lot of headlines but it won't make any real waves with true Rush fans unless they can prove that the drug use was massive, which seems highly unlikely considering his considerable workload. You can't be a big-time drug abuser and perform at the level he does day in and day out. It's just another case of the libs trying to bring down a popular conservative via scandal. They know they can't win on ideas or intelligent debate so they rely on lies and scandal instead.

The story above and one Drudge make no mention of the type of pills Rush is accused of using. Name your source. Give a link.

If someone takes too many aspirin, they'll also have a rapid loss of hearing. He has an auto-immune disorder which caused the hearing loss. He probably suffers from chronic pain i.e. some form of arthritis. That being said, heat and light massage is better than pills. Whenever Rush wants to address this, I'll believe him.
