I would assume his doctors did not order or run actual drug tests to confirm it, but simply asked him routine screening questions and took his word for it.

Why would you assume the most pre-eminent hearing clinic wouldn't run a complete blood series before diagnosing the condition of a high visibility client and going on the record denying drugs played a role in his hearing loss?

Ohhhh, of course, I should have known that Rush would be able to hire a surrogate detox-ee.

Because a blood series wouldn't necessarily include a screening for drugs unless it was specifically ordered. And think about it -- if you were one of the physicians, your patient is Rush Limbaugh of all people. Would you have any reason to suspect conservative icon Rush Limbaugh may not be telling you the truth regarding routine drug use questions? Add to that his physicians may have been fans as well. There's no reason to assume any such blood testing or urine testing for drugs was done, but that the physicians' confidence was based solely on a patient interview.

The only reason I even continued to think about it is because of the coincidence -- the fact that Vicodin has been linked to similar hearing loss, and that cases of autoimmune spontaneous hearing loss are so extremely rare otherwise.

In any case if the allegations are true it's very sad and I do hope Rush overcomes and bounces back.

Here's the deal re: RUSH LIMBAUGH. Let's go back to the 2000 Presidential Race. Bush v. Gore. When Gore ordered the recounts in SOUTH FLORIDA, he obtained the services of Attorney David Boies who owns or reps THE NATIONAL INQUIRER. Boies is a Clinton and McAuliffe buddy. South Florida politics working with NE is setting up Rush and they've got the cash to pay the maid six figures.

The South Florida cops may be "Gore Won" cops and they're in on it.

Sounds like this set up has been in the works for quite some time and THE MAID HAS IMMUNITY which tells me that law enforcement in S. Florida is trying to get Rush. (JANET RENO TERRITORY).

The maid was probably getting cold feet, wanted the six figures NOW so they paid her (DNC &/or N Enquirer) = David Boies, Algor's recount attorney.

Folks, THIS IS PART OF THE SCORCHED EARTH CAMPAIGN FOR THE 2004 ELECTIONS!

Fact mixed with fiction. Heavy on the fiction.

Why did both LIMBAUGH STORIES BREAK on the same day that the wires reported Al Gore's attempt to start a LIBERAL NEWS NETWORK? All pre-meditated except for the espn stuff. That gave them an opening too. SOUTH FLORIDA IS LARGELY DEMOCRATIC AND THEY MADE THEIR MOVE! NE is in South Florida. Drudge is in S. Florida.

David Boies, Al Gore's recount attorney REPS OR IS A PART OWNER OF THE NATIONAL ENQUIRER. This smells like a set up. The espn stuff set aside. McAuliffe has a home in Orlando and South Florida is Reno country - jack booted thug holdovers who would love to frame Rush.

I worked at a medium sized auto insurance claims dept. Back about ten years ago, there were and this is factual, not a ethnic comment, Haitian fraud rings would cause car accidents, collect personal injury and BI payments for everyone in the car but their home addresses were either one for 8 people or a vacant lot after they collected.

These insurance fraud rings were in Lake Worth, FL. I wouldn't believe anything a so called drug dealer from Lake Worth would be saying unless they are cooperating with possibly crooked S. Fla. law enforcement. If everyone's being paid off to set up Rush, we shall see.

If he did have a problem but it's in the past, THE DNC IS TRYING TO DESTROY HIM OUT OF DESPERATION. This could easily be a Hitlery job. She must never be president.

If you want the RNC toll free number, let me know. You ask for Constituent Services and bring up "no more new tone" b.s. They're after free speech, after Christians, after conservatives, after Rush, after Arnold and after Bush. Did I leave anyone out. Oh, yeah, they're after our sovereignty too.

Where did maid's six figures paid by the National Enquirer really come from? Inquiring minds want to know.

"David Boies, Al Gore's recount attorney REPS OR IS A PART OWNER OF THE NATIONAL ENQUIRER"

That's very interesting.
I hear the housekeeper has retained an attorney, wouldn't it be interesting to know who that might be?

How long before we see maid's attorney hitting CNN, MSNBC, ABC and CBS? The fact that she has immunity speaks volumes. (you'd think Rush was a terrorist or something). He's still a lovable fuzz ball to me.

Bill O' Reilly said today on the radio that Rush needs his book, Who's Looking Out for You. It appears that Rush trusted some real rats. I bet he won't do that again. I can't buy this partly because his wife Marta is a health nut and was an aerobics person.

I'm no football fan myself but my mom is football crazy and she picks teams every Sunday a.m. Today's her lucky day. She won a drug store drawing.

It's lady's night at Bucs Stadium and they're going to wine and dine my mom, do a football clinic and she's hoping she gets to meet Jon Gruden. Only 300 ladies from Tampa Bay won tickets to Football 101.

I've been teasing my mom all week about being a Buc player. She'll be dressed as Keyshawn, weighing in at 95 lbs. Go, Bucs, Go, Mom - uh, Keyshawn.

By extension that assumes that Rush decided rolling the dice and lying about his supposed drug dependency was more important than saving his hearing. I'm not buying it. There were 4, maybe 5 specialists in the news conference and to say they put their professional reputation on the line because they were "fans" of his strains credulity. Rush may have had an addiction, but to pin his hearing loss to it is a stretch, IMHO.

I have no reason to be stubborn about it. There may very well be a blood test or other diagnostic tool that positively verifies autoimmune disorder that was used in diagnosing Limbaugh's case. Maybe someone here with medical knowledge can verify if such a test exists.

I wouldn't rush to jump to a conclusion in either case. The maid said she started providing drugs started four years ago, and Rush's hearing loss came two years ago.

But it doesn't matter what caused it -- its really not my business and I'll leave it at that.
