Let me tell my story about Levis because I was one who lost his job with them after 8 reliable years. We in Fannin Georgia along with 3600 others lost our jobs in 2002 when Levis moved our plant to Mexico due to their "claimed" profit lose. Let me tell you all...THEY LIE!! The average Levi worker at the time made $10.00 an hour and had good benifits, and Levis claimed right up untill the last 2 months that they were making more profit than ever before, but they treated us like little children and slaves. It was a fight to keep our wages year after year. Then they told us in 96 that Levis was heading in a new direction and some plants (not all 27) in the USA would be moved overseas. But they told us to hang with them because if we did lose our jobs we would get a very specific severence package that they promised we would get. Along with other great bonuses for staying with them. Well in 2002 we only got 40% of what was promised all those years. They cut retirement packages to the point very few qualified for it. A bunch of people there who could have retired earlier or was within weeks of it lost it due to this change that happened without warning. One guy worked there for 32 years and could have retired with full benifits 2 years earlier, but keept working for extra money...he lost it all due to their crooked ways. We were traded for workers that are now paid anywhere from $1.00 a day to 6 cents an hour without benifits. And Levis can still claim that they are MADE IN AMERICA because of certain international loopholes. And dont anyone be fooled by their claim to different types of jeans. There all the same! Theyre all made with the same denim. The only difference in styles is as simple as a patch here and a stitch there. And in 2002 they produced a pair of jeans (any style) in our plant for a mere $4.21 each. Now its way lower due to the new cheap labor. I ought to know...I sewed over 7 million pair in my life. They even switched to a cheaper grade of denim in 2001 to make more money. This cheaper denim would rip and tear as you tried to sew it. Instead of admiting their mistake, they blamed it on us. And since we got paid by how fast we could sew bundles of 60 pair, we came out making alot less each week, but they still made the same profit because we made up the time on Saturdays. They even paid off our local government for 30 years to keep other jobs out of our community because they didnt want the competition. Now we have only minimum wage jobs left with no insurance. One more thing about how they lie. We didnt get a profit sharing check in 2002 because they claimed low profits. But yet they sent our local government a $6000.00 and a $25000.00 check after we were closed, and has paid millions to celbrities in their new comercials. We got zilch! So yes, Boycott Levis. They are so crooked and greedy it aint funny. Copy and Paste this all over the net as I need help telling the truth.

Wow. How did this thread come back to life?

Anybody here remember when a pair of Levi's where a pair of jeans for life? I still have old Levi's that I stole from a little nephew of mine while he was in high school, ten years ago. Admittedly, I don't wear them all too often anymore but they have gotten alot of wear over the past decade and they are still in decent shape.

Now, if I buy my husband a pair of Levi's, I am shocked if he can wear them two years in a row. The pockets in the back start wearing a hole where he puts his wallet. Every pair, like clock work.

Trick for anyone who has this problem, turn them inside out and apply come clear nail polish to that area and it will prolong their life a little bit, but they will still rip out.

I can't even believe I have to write that about a pair of Levi's.

I would not even bother buying them anymore but they are the only kind my husband will wear.
