This program has never had anything to do with efficiency, it has to do with H1B's working dirt cheap and obviously there has never been a real shortage of qualified american workers in these fields, or they would not be laying them off in favor of H1B's.

OK. So then you'd support ending H1Bs and allowing any Indian who wants to move here freely to work, to do so? No programs, no government intervention, no lobbyists, etc. Just man to man competition for a job. Or would that scare you?

Why should that scare anyone? As long as the Indian immigrates legally as does anyone else when obtaining his citizenship, that is part of the definition of a "level playing field."

The insinuation that it would scare anyone now working in IT implies that we IT workers fear that they are ultimately better than we are. That you believe this to be true reveals to us the source of your arrogance. I for one am not afraid to compete with anyone else for a position in the IT market, because I've been doing that for ten years with a lot of success.

What I cannot compete with is the H1B worker whose only option beyond returning to his home country is to put up with the whims and capriciousness of managers who know that his employees have no other choice.
