Like I said, it amazes me at how cyclists put the "law" regarding their safety above common sense and the laws of physics.

The law says its illegal to mug or rob someone. Therefore I should be able to walk unmoletsted through the most crime ridden part of town at 1:00am Sat. morning and not worry, the "law" will protect me.

It is illegal to steal cars. Therefore I should be able to go to the grocery store and leave my car unlocked with the engine running and expect it to be there when I get back.

Its called common sense, excercise it.

Following you definition of common sense - you'd never get in car. You're much more likely to be injured in a car accident than in a mugging. Just for the record, I'm not asking for anything special - just respect and courtesy on the road and that drivers follow the traffic laws. Oh, and that they not intentionally try to hurt me while I'm riding my bike.
