Novak's source should come forward today and resign. I think it's safe to say the source is not anybody high up in the WH, certainly not Rove. My guess is he or she is a State Dept Deputy Secretary.

Since this story involved goings-on in the CIA and possibly the State Department, you would think that Novak would go to one of those agencies for background, rather than going to the White House. Still, it's quite possible - even likely - that the White House eventually knew the broad details of how Wilson's trip was arranged. Thus I am hesitant to draw any firm conclusions about where Novak's source was.

It works to well in their favor to have every news outlet stating that it is a Republican leak.
