We ceded the point a long time ago. Not much chance of changing it now. Too much precedence. Doesn't make it right, of course, that's just the reality of it. I suppose if the populace had gotten jumpin' ugly back when they started seizing property, in many cases without even filing charges, as a part of the Drug War (which is where all this crap started), things might be different. But Americans wouldn't recognize a slippery slope if it was snowing and they we were wearing skis.

That's fer sure! Hey, as long as it's *someone else's* property (meaning, someone not like me) being confiscated, that's okay. People don't seem to realize that the same violations of due process that allow the confiscation of others' property also authorizes the confiscation of their own. It's the old, "That could NEVER happen to me" thing.
