BTW, when I read your post I was reminded of something that seemed so apt... There is a short cartoon at the beginning of Monsters, Inc where a bratty bunch of little birds are picking on a big friendly one that sits on their wire. They begin to peck at his toes until he drops off the wire, but that causes the wire to slingshot all the bratty little birds off into oblivion...
