Either McClintock or Schwarzenegger Likely Winner in California if Other Dropped Out
With Arnold Schwarzenegger the Republican front-runner in the California gubernatorial contest, many GOP officials have pressured California State Sen. Tom McClintock to drop out of the race, fearing he will divide the Republican vote and allow Democratic Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante to win. A CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll, conducted over the past weekend, shows that McClintock does indeed draw support away from Schwarzenegger, though not enough to deprive the actor of the lead among probable voters. But the poll also shows that if Schwarzenegger were not in the race, McClintock would likely be in first place by a substantial margin, rather than behind Bustamante.

Oh Nopardons, you are staying up too late...

I am behind Arnold because I think that the Tombots are nutjobs, scary as it is, I am on your side with this one.

That frightens me...

It isn't " late " at all and unlike you, I am an ADULT, who goes to bed when I feel like it.

That having been said, it's delightful to find out that you aren't always 100% in error; however, a broken clock shows the correct time, twice a day. LOL

Honestly, when I hear the Tombots on the radio (I can pick up KFI 640 in Phoenix, and Hugh Hewitt is aired here) and I hear the Tombots, they scare me, it sounds like they want some kind of fundamentalist christian intolerant autocratic religious despot to be their leader.

No thanks! I really want California to do well, to stem the tide of California yuppies moving to Arizona, raising the property values and voting Democrat....

I think your "historical outline" doesn't apply. Different players, different times. A much more apt, and recent analogy would be Simon's loss to Davis. The voters of California have a second chance and they aren't about to throw it away on Simon II.

it's been five years... five.
I remember cheif negotiator explaining tax code concepts that might get us out of our jams in this nation...

those were the days.
He's gone now.
Now we got the tombot extremists and the religiocrats calling for the heads of RINOs they cannot stand... we just aren't holy enough for them...

Its good to see that in your hazy vision of the real world, you can actually spot an actual winning idea.

But, in your case, it shows that a completly broken clock can be cured by a one in a million miracle.

Sleep well, knowing that I am working to pay off your Social Security check...

CA's GOP under Governor Arnold will attract many times the number of the departing ideologues, many of whom do not vote, electing instead, to stay home and pout.

As a matter of fact, the vast majority of newly registered voters for THIS election have chosen the GOP. Why? Arnold.

Robert, you're being voyeristic and neglecting me! :-(

I was here, back then, chief was a dear friend of mine, I remember posting some inside stuff, from the House of Representives, that came true ( re the voting for IMPEACHMENT !), and some of us actually trying to form a political action committee. Those were the days and long gone.

This is supposed to be a Conservative web site, a place to get news, decipher it, digest it, discuss it, and then what .... tear each other to shreds and look worse than what our enemies say we all are ? EVIDENTLY ; plus various little ( little ? no, more than the current events/news forum ! )groups, off on various other " units " within FR.

The religious zealots, who claim that no one else is " worthy ", shgould start a site of their own and pray that GOD forgives them for assuming HIS place.

The extremists, who hate, loathe, and abhor the GOP, should do likewise.

Or...............the rest of us should decamp.

None of the afore mnentioned will happen, with one minor exception; more and more people will just get fed up with FR and perhaps leave, or stop posting, or get so angry, that they get banned.

Catch 22... it would need to be large enough to produce effective participation and have members spread across the country, so we need FR. The format and atmosphere of FR would prevent that type of discussion, at least in its current form.

Something to think about...

Now, go find someone else to be your dominatrix, because supporting your masochism, isn't anything I'm particularly interested in. LOL

I was waxing nostalgic.
Sorry.
Central Scrut and Cheif Negotiator used to send me tax policy position papers, back when we were trying to make a difference...
I remember flame wars that meant something over flat tax versus fair tax..

Makes these relgiocrat flamewars sponsored by alan keyes clones, rather nauseating.

Tom has damaged the FreeRepublic...
