The government is going to pay people to buy houses.

I wonder if I can apply for help with a down payment on one of my rentals. I'm poor.
I'm not kidding either. I can't afford health insurance, also something many "poor" have handed to them for nothing.
BTW, I believe this was GWBs bright socialist ideas. I'm getting entirely sick and tired of paying for everyone's bright ideas.

200 million to be spent here in America sounds d*mn good to 100 billion per year for Iraqis to have gubmint jobs.

Just as long as the buyers are here illegally as well. California has led the way with free college tuition for those folks, so we may as well buy them houses too.

The government is going to pay people to buy houses.More helicopter money to keep the economic recovery illusion alive. Housing is all that is keeping the economy from just falling over dead in its tracks. Of course the government is going to be buying houses for people. The clown patrol wants to get re-elected no matter how much it costs taxpayers later.

Let's do it one more time: "A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves money from the public treasure. From that moment on the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most money from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy followed by a dictatorship". They don't need to be one-armed, Honduran or poetic to qualify, gay should do quite nicely. Gay and hispanic would, ofcourse, be optimal.

gay should do quite nicely. Yeah, but being a south of the border, uniclubbed, versesmith puts you over the top. And I know over the top.

Fannie is jumping into the low income no money down home loan business with both feet. They have been given the green light to blow as much money as possible on housing and they are going to do it. Then it will be crash and burn as taxpayer expense. You can count on it.

So according to you all, I should not have been allowed to receive my HUD loan 7 years ago for the house I am still raising my kids in? I don't think that because a person is poor they are necessarily going to default on a loan or
"return to the taxpayers...in the expectation that we will also pick up their monthlypayments." Sometimes good people have bad things happen to them which places them in situations where they could use help. Having a house of one's own where one can put a nail in the wall where one wants or color that wall sky-blue-pink if it is their preference is such a great feeling that it inspires people to do good things with their life in order to keep their homes and a scrap of dignity (and to remember others when their circumstances improve).
That being said, we already have many programs to help with housing, both publically funded through USDA and HUD as well as private organizations such as Habitat for Humanity. I'd be interrested in knowing what legitimate reason the proposers of this legislation had for it. I understand politics and votes were the justification of their excuses.
