Because conservatives will be blamed for bringing forth a typhoon of bullshit if they can't make the mud stick to the Dems by winning the election. You don't stand on principle when you organize a recall, you win. The recall is a disruptive process that voids a previous election. Results must be favorable for the side bringing the action or your cause is discredited, period.

First of all, neither Haynes, nor that whole lot of GOP champions had any hand in initiatiting this recall! Second, If cruz wins, the win will be directly attributable to the p*ss-poor political maneuvering by republicans in this State, that has gone on for years. The GOP in California has no one to blame but itself!

I see no way that untried conservatism could be discredited if it is not accepted by the voters. That's "proving a negative." McClintock or Bust for me.
